I am trying out Blog It, the new facebook app from Six Apart. With this app, from within facebook, you can now create a blog post, and have it show up on a number of your outside (of facebook) blogs, notify your friends, etc. It is still new, but is getting a good reception in the market, and plans are to continue and improve it.
This is good!
Last year, our family participated in the Livestrong Challenge in Portland, Oregon. Livestrong is part of Lance Armstrong's efforts to raise money to fight cancer, and to help those affected by cancer. It is a very worthy cause.
Here is their promotional video for the Livestrong Challenge 2007. The 34th second is very interesting!
Which band or artist which is no longer performing or alive would you have loved to have seen?
Submitted by Rev Stan.
Bobby Darin. Great voice, great tempo, cool guy.
Took Justin, Lance, and Justin's friend Preston to the movie last weekend. We ran into another group of Oak Knoll parents and kids there! It wasn't nearly as crowded as I would have thought, given it was the 6PM show on Saturday. I had expected a line to wait for seats, but we got there 30 minutes ahead of time, and there was no one! Strange, especially when you consider it set a record for box office receipts, but I guess that is what happens when you have 20 shows/day in one theatre! Everyone enjoyed the show, it was a bit long, so Lance got a bit restless 3/4 fo the way through, but it was good action, and good bad-guys. SandMan was good, but kind of take-off of the liquid metal guy from Terminator 2.
What are some charitable causes that you support or would like to support?
The one organization we have supported over the last few years is the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation, which supports cancer victims and their families. My mother died of cancer when she was 44, and I was 18, and my wife's mom also passed away from cancer, even before I had the chance to meet her, so we have definitely been affected by cancer.
Lance Armstrong is an amazing person. He started out as a triathlete, moved into competitive cycling, participating in the Tour de France, good but not great. Then he is diagnosed with cancer, which is pretty widespread. He survives that battle, and then goes on to win the Tour de France, arguably the toughest 3 week sports event imaginable, not just once, but seven times in a row! During this stretch, he also started the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which focuses on helping those people affected by cancer, and has done great work to improve the lives of so many. Since Lance retired after the 2005 TdF, he has dedicated himself to not only helping those with cancer, but to the greater goal of finding a cure for cancer! With his achievements, his political connections, and his unbelievable drive and determination, of anyone, he may have the best chance of making a huge difference in this battle against cancer! He is truly an inspiration to all of us who have been affected by cancer, either those with the disease, cancer survivors, or those of us who have friends or family with cancer!

What are your top 5 movies/DVDs of 2006?
It seems silly, but 2 of these I haven't even seen yet, but I know they will be in my top 5. Letters From IwoJima and The Pursuit of Happyness. I also liked Cars, and Last Holiday.
